Gusto 501 set to open its doors on February 4th

Updated: almost 5 years ago

After years of planning and much anticipation, Gusto 501, the sister restaurant of Toronto's beloved Gusto 101, is set to open its doors to the public on February 4th.

We can thank Janet Zuccarini's vision of combining art, architecture, food and community for yet another place for Torontonians and their guests to have a truly spectacular dining experience. Zuccarini is the CEO and owner of Gusto 54 Restaurant Group and Resident Judge on Top Chef Canada.

Located at 501 King St. East, Gusto 501 is a multi-level, 280 seat restaurant, serving up contemporary Italian dishes with a focus on farm fresh ingredients and local produce. The all-new menu by Executive Chef Elio Zannoni and Chef Michael Magliano will feature some classics from Gusto 101, complemented by unique menu items exclusive to the King Street location. The drinks menu will have an extensive list of Italian wines, liqueurs and cocktails carefully crafted by Head sommelier Mariano Gonzalez Altamura and Bar Manager Jorge Yarce. Here's to hoping we'll get Gusto's own wine on tap at $1 per ounce at this location as well.

Gusto 501's ground floor will have a sidewalk terrace and an open concept dining room. The restaurant will also have a wine and cocktail bar, beautiful private rooms, a chef tasting kitchen called "Attico" and a seasonal rooftop patio.

After years of demolition, construction and planning, the award-winning design firm PARTISANS and construction company Boszko & Verity Inc. transformed the former auto-garage into a five-story architectural masterpiece.

Guests will be welcomed by a facade of glass panels, a custom terracotta brick wall consisting of over 6,000 clay blocks with LED lighting, and beautifully designed interiors by Wendy Haworth Design Studio.
