Toronto's beloved wine duo, Grape Witches teamed up with Paul Taylor of FoodShare Toronto for an Instagram takeover yesterday to discuss his work and how the community can get involved in the fight towards food security and eliminating poverty.
FoodShare Toronto is one of Canada's largest non-profit food security and food justice organizations whose mission is to make good, healthy food accessible to all through community-led projects.
In honour of the takeover event, Grape Witches hosted a Natural Wine Dream Pack raffle with 100% of the money raised donated to FoodShare Toronto. The Natural Wine Dream Pack included six natural wines including wine from Forlorn Hope, Gut Oggau and Domaine Bobinet.
This isn't the first time the natural wine shop is giving back to the community. Grape Witches have donated profits from their mixed packs to local not-for-profit organizations including WHIWH, a community health centre which provides primary healthcare to women of colour, the Toronto Prisoner's Rights Project, supporting prisoners re-integrating into the community as well as those still behind bars and Across Boundaries Mental Health Centre, to name a few.
Grape Witches is an inspiring reflection of community activism and how we can use our platform and privilege to give voice to and fight for the marginalized communities among us.
