A new fried chicken joint quietly pops up on Ossington Avenue

There are places in Toronto that "do" fried chicken sandwiches, and there are places that do fried chicken sandwiches. Ghost Chicken, which quietly opened up on 74 Ossington Avenue on February 8, does fried chicken sandwiches, and they can do it with their house Nashville spice blend and oil, or their smoked paprika glaze or a cilantro-jalapeno crema.

Ghost Chicken wanted to keep their soft-opening quiet while they perfected their service offering but it's been hard for them to keep things on the down-low with a mouth-watering menu and an adorable chicken dressed as a ghost sign sitting on one of the most pedestrian-friendly strips of Ossington. The secret is out -- and you can grab Ghost Chicken as takeout, delivery and now dine-in at their location.

Ghost Chicken has been around for two years; you may have had their signature OG Sandwich on a food truck that featured Ghost Chicken one summer, or maybe popped by for a takeaway at their secret location in Mississauga, however now that they've set up their primary flagship location in Toronto, we can expect great things from their menu. Their offering is currently available on all your favourite food apps (Uber Eats, Ritual, DoorDash and SkipTheDishes), and on top of their signature fried chicken sandwich collection, you can also get lollipops (fried chicken drumsticks), crispy chicken bites (all halal) and a variety of side potato offerings (including curly fries, and curly fry connoisseurs know, curly fries can be hard to find in Toronto).

Ghost Chicken has worked closely with designers to create interiors that reflect the Ossington community and ooze a chill vibe perfect for a quick-service, reasonably priced fried chicken joint that serves restaurant-quality food. The brand is led by John Carlo Zabala and Michael Swirla, who have deep roots in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

One thing to look out for at Ghost Chicken is their "scary good" range of spice levels; from those that think ketchup is spicy to spice junkies that work their way up the Scoville Scale, there should be a fried chicken option for everyone's comfort levels.
