Beginning July 21st, Bloor Street will hold more appeal than ever thanks to the new W Toronto and its three unique dining destinations. Whether you want to refuel over nostalgic comfort food with a plant-based twist, revive with a bevy of bubbles at the hotel’s lobby lounge, or relax at Yorkville’s newest rooftop refuge, W Toronto is poised to deliver.
Unsurprisingly, there’s no shortage of style to go with W Toronto’s significant substance. With more than 250 rooms, six event spaces, a gym, the brand’s signature “Whatever/Whenever service,” and three restaurants helmed by executive chef Keith Pears, guests are guaranteed a stay that effortlessly combines luxury, culture and comfort into one.
Born in Vancouver, chef Keith Pears brings years of experience to W Toronto. From his work as executive chef at Delta Toronto to his wins on Chopped Canada and Canada’s Great Kitchen Party, chef Pears is a consummate professional who strives to deliver memorable culinary moments to each and every guest. “I am inspired by the diversity of the city and how it is reflected in the colourful, spirited spaces throughout this stunning hotel,” says chef Pears. “I had so much fun crafting these very distinct menus and I want people to enjoy every bite, sip and moment of being at W Toronto.”
After months of menu planning and testing, W Toronto’s three new eateries are ready to impress. At Public School, chef Pears brings a from-scratch, local menu to a two-storey coffee house and kitchen. At the all-day spot, guests will find casual, plant-forward fare, from hearty breakfasts and pastries, to fortifying entrées guaranteed to fuel every type of Bloor-Street escapade. Strawberry overnight oats and smashed avocado toasts make way for midday chopped chicken Cobb, gazpacho and poke bowls. Alongside, De Mello coffee and a thirst-quenching selection of tonics, cocktails and low-ABV bevvies invigorate body and soul.
The hotel’s lobby lounge, dubbed Living Room, is the heart and soul of W Toronto and a place clearly focused on fun. With three distinct seating areas, the space offers quiet escapes as well as spots for socializing over unique Champagne flights made possible by an exclusive Perlini corking system. On the menu, are a selection of tapas-inspired small plates featuring flavours from around the globe. Dishes like barbacoa tacos, jerk chicken skewers and Fogo Island cod cheeks harness Toronto’s diversity and put it on delicious display. Home to a Moët & Chandon vending machine, this is clearly the place to get the party started.
Once underway, you’ll want to move the fête up to Skylight, the hotel’s rooftop oasis on the 9th floor. A spot for Mediterranean dishes, a raw bar and curated cocktails, Skylight invites guests to set aside the worries of the day and escape to the boho-styled spot where relaxation is key. Shared plates include stunning selections from the raw bar, mezze and spreads, along with salads, kebabs, tajines, and more. Chef’s chocolate birdcage, made from a phyllo nest with truffle eggs, might just compete with the view for most Instagrammable content at Skylight.
Toronto’s newest luxury lifestyle destination, W Toronto brings drama and sophistication to 90 Bloor Street East. Discover its incomparable cool by sipping and supping your way through its three new eateries.
