Famed Toronto chef goes viral on TikTok by cooking upscale meals for his puppy

Sean MacDonald, the renowned chef and owner of est, has taken his elegant tasting menus home for his puppy, Hazelnut, to enjoy.

MacDonald picked up Hazelnut the night before Valentine's Day, and wanted to show his love to her by serving her an incredible meal with a perfectly cooked A5 wagyu and a roasted bone marrow jus. The meal was documented on MacDonald's TikTok account, and has amassed over half a million views.

"I was just gonna do one for Valentine's Day, because I got her on Valentine's Day, and I just wanted to do a special dinner for her," MacDonald said in an appearance on The Today Show Australia. "It kind of popped off on TikTok, so then I was like, I guess I have to do these every single day now."

MacDonald has kept up since, posting every day about Hazelnut and her elegant, upscale meals to their 97,000 followers on the popular video sharing app.

The chef shared that Hazelnut does not eat a straight kibble diet, and has done research to make sure that what he serves her is safe to eat. Recently, MacDonald shared a video of Hazelnut's breakfast, which included an assortment of proteins and vegetables to accompany her small portion of kibble, including raw meat ground and chicken hearts, a raw egg, blueberries, cucumber and roasted squash and sweet potatoes.

Dogs have highly-acidic stomachs compared to humans, meaning they can break down raw food and kill any bacterias, like salmonella, before they cause any harm or disease. Raw foods are also rich in nutrients that can sometimes be destroyed or lessened in the process of cooking them, according to Dogs Naturally Magazine.

Hazelnut's extravagant meals will likely slow down once MacDonald is able to return to est in the near future, but for now, we can just look forward to seeing his puppy enjoy the meals for us.
