Famed Toronto bar pivots to unique holiday delivery

It seems small business owners are showing nothing but ingenuity in the midst of undeniably tough times -- from bars converting to retro video stores to restaurants reopening as bottle shops, outdoor markets and bodegas -- there seem to be no limits to retrofitting pre-COVID business models.

Unequivocally the most well-known speakeasy in Toronto, Cold Tea, has just announced a unique and timely service that defies all expectations of what a bar typically offers thirsty patrons (libations and chatter). After closing their original Kensington Market location after dealing with a stubborn landlord, Cold Tea has introduced their new Christmas tree delivery service -- just in time for the holidays (and a supposed tree shortage).

Dubbed COLD T(REE), the bar is delivering a festive package that includes a real, freshly cut, white spruce Christmas tree, a bespoke cocktail kit for two, half-dozen holiday cookies, a festive music mix by Mike Roc and a donation in your name to the Change For A Hundred initiative. The package goes for $125 and is a COVID friendly contactless delivery and orders can be pre-made on their website (they are taking orders for this weekend, which must be placed by Thursday at 12 a.m.).

As small businesses are told on repeat to adapt and pivot, to hold on a little longer, we do nothing but salute the perseverance from the out-of-the-box thinkers that are trying to trudge their way out of what we call "the new normal." So help your local watering hole out and order your Christmas tree (hassle-free) from COLD T(REE).
