Evangeline, the Ace Hotel Toronto's new all-season rooftop bar and lounge, is set to open its doors on Friday. The crowning glory of the recently-opened hotel will sit 14 stories high and offer sweeping vistas of the breathtaking Toronto skyline.
The warm and inviting bar will offer a plethora of craft cocktails to its patrons, some of which include the Hummingbird (vodka, melon liqueur, Manuka honey, lime, bitters, cava), Punch Lafitte (rhum agricole, white rum, absinthe, brandy, gunpowder tea, coconut milk, lime), Meiji Restoration (Japanese whiskey, Cocchi Rosa, plum wine, yuzu bitters) as well as non-alcoholic offerings like Good Vibes Only (zero-proof tequila, fermented pineapple, citrus, chili). Rounding out the drinks menu are local beers, wines and various sparkling bottles.
Beyond carefully-curated libations, Evangeline will also feature an array of small plates like charcuterie boards, 'nduja-stuffed olives with halloumi and shrimp cocktails, courtesy of award-winning chef-partner Patrick Kriss — the driving force behind Alder and The Lobby.
The 80-seat lounge is spread across a warm and cozy indoor area bookended by two fireplaces and a sprawling outdoor patio. The choice of design lends itself to a rather eccentric-yet-modern vibe, creating a homely environment for the setting while also maintaining a certain polish and primness to it. A lush cornucopia of plants moves from indoors to outdoors, where the furnishings adopt a more casual and contemporary tone.
With energy swinging from sunset to late-night revelry, Evangeline celebrates creativity through a keen eye for curation. Its name is an homage to the first feature film out of Canada and its atmosphere is influenced by the creative spark of the silver screen.
That nod to the creative arts makes Evangeline such a well-placed ornament atop the Christmas tree that is Ace Hotel. Continuing its longtime commitment to supporting local artists and forwarding the culture, the bar is partnering with a slew of DJs, record labels and dance party producers to create a calendar featuring open-to-all events that will keep the crowd on its peak into the wee hours of the morning.
The space will also feature a rotating art space that will feature works of various Canadian artists.
In all, people can expect Evangeline to continue the set trend of being an artsy-yet-comfortable space within Ace Hotel Toronto while serving delicious food and drink, all the while pairing it with the stunning landscape that is Toronto's skyline. It is built to be a spot where people can come in during all sorts of weather conditions, forget the world outside and fully immerse themselves in a cozy and welcoming environment.
Evangeline will be open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday to Sunday at the Ace Hotel Toronto located at 51 Camden St. Guests will be welcomed on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, visit the bar's website.
