After years of uncertainty, Chantecler teases a new home in Bloorcourt Village

Almost three years after their original location was destroyed by a fire, Chantecler has risen from the ashes and is preparing to open a brand new namesake: Bar Chantecler.

When Chantecler opened in 2016, its exquisite, elevated French classics quickly placed the restaurant on every hot list in Toronto and was a very welcome addition to the Parkdale neighbourhood.

When a fire in 2019 destroyed the restaurant, it was a devastating setback for the team and their regular diners. Since then, it's been a bumpy couple of years—their Parkdale space was eventually restored, but it was given instead to Canadian fried chicken chain Mary Brown’s Chicken.

They continued working next door and across the street from Chantecler Boucherie and Le Phénix respectively, but just last month, the group announced their butcher shop, Boucherie, would also be leaving the Parkdale neighbourhood.

Not long after, the team teased their new location, then dubbed “Chantecler 2.0” according to their Instagram post. They soon updated their Instagram bio with its official name: Bar Chantecler.

For now, not much else is known about their secret project, but commenters on the post have narrowed down their new home to the intersection of Bloor St W and Crawford St, right on the lively Bloorcourt Village strip.

From the looks of it, Bar Chantecler will be located around 800 Bloor St W. Hopefully we can expect more details from the team soon, but for now, you can keep an eye on their Instagram for more updates on the upcoming “Chantecler 2.0.”
