Davenport Village just became home to a cozy new tavern that has finally opened its doors after a year of uncertainty and setbacks. Century Park Tavern comes from the team behind Love Chix and is located at Davenport and Lansdowne, a relatively unsaturated area of the city when it comes to solid neighbourhood restaurants. As such, it seems to be an ideal fit for the area, offering up a casual but slightly upscale pub experience that will surely attract folks looking for a lovely lunch or dinner spot.
After a long year of delays, Century Park Tavern's opening plan did not go quite as expected. The first wave of COVID-19 pushed them back 3 months on their schedule to get everything required to open their doors, but they pushed through and managed to receive all the necessary documentation, including their liquor license, a couple of weeks ago. The intent to launch with dine-in service was of course thrown off as well with Toronto and the GTA entering back into a modified Stage 2, forcing them to open for takeout only. Despite this, they managed to finally welcome in guests last week for takeaway and patio service, offering a temporary, limited menu of delicious food.
Fancy shareables like duck confit poutine with Jameson-infused gravy, seared tuna tataki and fries with dill pickle salt can be enjoyed to start off your meal, followed by a couple of hearty salad options, crispy fish and chips and a roasted chicken dish with buttery mashed potatoes and tarragon aioli. They also serve a burger, sandwiches and flatbreads with toppings like classic margherita, prosciutto di parma and spicy duck with honey crema.
Their current hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 2-9 p.m. Social distancing measures and safety precautions are in effect, so make sure to show your support if you're in the area by ordering a takeout meal or braving the cold and having a seat on their patio -- just don't forget to bring an extra warm blanket!
