What happens when you combine a celebrity chef with an MMA fighter? That’s what the team over at The Substance Group is trying to find out.
As part of their Perfect Pairing Cooking class experiences, they’ll be pairing celebrity chef Matt Basile with MMA fighter Elias Theodorou together to try their hand at one of chef Basile’s favourite recipes, Johnny Cakes, on January 24, 2021. Proceeds will support autism employment initiatives through the annual Spectrum Works Job Fair.
Johnny Cakes are similar to pancakes but made with cornmeal. Every region seems to have its own take on them and you could enjoy them for both sweet or savoury meals. Chef Matt Basile has his own take on the dish, with his own unique flair and will do his best to have Theodorou and all attendees follow along from the comfort of their own kitchen. The event will also include a live Q&A with the chef Basile and Elias Theodorou throughout the cooking session.
