The only trade show in Canada that is dedicated entirely to the art and business of making pizza is returning to Toronto this fall.
The Canadian Pizza Summit East will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the Faema Culinary Academy— a cooking school focusing on the art of sustaining Italian culinary culture in Canada.
The trade show is open to a variety of people — from owners and employees of pizzerias; to people looking into getting into the pizza business and even owners and employees of pizza-centric catering and foodservice businesses.
The pizza summit exists in a unique space of its own by being the only such event curated for businesses in the pizza industry. On display will be state-of-the-art ovens and other related equipment. There will also be sponsors and exhibitors present that specialize in serving the pizza industry.
The event promises to be a treasure trove of information and an opportunity to network and learn innovative techniques from other pizza makers. Registration is free and can be done by clicking here.
Besides the numerous informational and networking opportunities, the other exciting thing taking place at the Canadian Pizza Summit is the Chef of the Year East competition! All interested professional pizza makers are encouraged to enter their best signature pizza into the competition.
At stake — besides major bragging rights, of course — is a chance to win a free trip to compete in the International Pizza Challenge at the Pizza Expo in Las Vegas in 2023, a feature on the cover of Canadian Pizza Magazine and an award to proudly display in the pizzeria.
The competitors must make two pizzas for the competition, either round in shape with at least a 10-inch diameter or rectangular with dimensions of 10 x 14 inches minimum. While one of the pizzas will be sampled by the judges, fret not! The second will head over to the audience for sampling — all the more reason to want to attend the pizza summit!
All other rules for the competition can be found here. Registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis and can be done by clicking here. The deadline is Oct. 10, or until all available spots are filled.
The Canadian Pizza Summit East, with all of its bells and whistles, will be a day of immense value for newbies and veterans of the pizza industry alike. If you are someone who is in the world of pizza or even looking to get into it, we can't think of a better way to spend a Monday.
The trade show will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 at Faema Culinary Academy at 672 Dupont St. All information can be found here.
