A new high-end ice cream cake shop is coming to Unionville this summer.
Boréal Gâteau makes one-of-a-kind desserts that will exceed all of your ideal ice cream cake expectations. The owner, Daisy Ng, first came up with the idea last year when she was looking for a patisserie style ice cream cake for her birthday. After her search was unsuccessful, she decided to make this creation herself.
She began experimenting with various styles and designs, and eventually chose to focus on a memorizing mirror glaze.
The mirror glaze is what inspired the name of the store, because the shapes and colours reminded Ng of the Northern Lights, also referred to as the Aurora Borealis. She also wanted to prompt thoughts related to the Arctic, due to the cold nature of the cakes.
The term "Gâteau" emphasizes that Boréal Gâteau products are ice cream cakes, and it also speaks to Ng's personal experiences of French patisseries in France.
Ng has been in the dessert industry for 10 years. She attended George Brown's pastry program and, over the duration of her career, has worked at Patria, Laduree, and DaanGo Cake Lab.
Each delicious cake is a work of art and can be ordered through their website, with a minimum three-day notice. They have a range of set designs for each flavour, and customers are also able to request colour customizations and personalized messages.
Additionally, Boréal Gâteau cakes are available in various molds, one of which being their bubbly cube mold that mimics the shape of the bubble candle––a trendy item on social media platforms like Pinterest.
Boréal Gâteau will be opening their first in-store location in June 2021 at 205 Main Street, Unionville.
