Despite recent indoor dining restrictions in the Peel region, Ottawa's famous Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery opened its second GTA location last month. The Richmond Hill restaurant joins Mississauga – which opened in late August – as the latest Big Rig outpost outside of the Ottawa area, complete with a restaurant and brewhouse featuring their award-winning ales, pilsners, and seasonal beers.
Big Rig is famous for its comfort food, including an in-house southern smokehouse, Montreal-style pizzas and more. The brewery, which is affectionately named after the Ottawa Senators' defenceman Chris "Big Rig" Phillips, quickly gained popularity following the establishment of a variety of craft beers. It is available for purchase at numerous retail locations across the country, including the LCBO.
Big Rig's two Ottawa locations took over the former homes of Quebec's popular 3 Brewers. With the Liberty Village 3 Brewers location permanently closed, it's possible that Big Rig may establish a presence in Toronto at some point in the near future.
Big Rig Kitchen & Brewery is located at 125 York Blvd #135 in Richmond Hill and is open seven days a week (Sunday, 12–10pm; Monday-Tuesday, 4–10pm; Wednesday–Saturday, 12–11:00pm). All food and beer is available for takeout and delivery (valid government-issued ID required for orders with alcohol).
