Beloved Toronto bagel shop opens new location at Dundas and Dovercourt

Bagel lovers rejoice! The team behind the Primrose Bagel Company, one of Toronto's most popular bagel institutions, has opened their doors at The Bagel Hole, their new endeavour on the South-East corner of Dundas and Dovercourt in Beaconsfield Village.

With the ever-growing demand for Primrose Bagels, it makes sense that founder Sam Davis would want to expand the business and open a second location.

Their original brick and mortar location -- which opened last year at 317 Oakwood Avenue -- continues to sell out of bagels daily and has established Primrose as a company to watch in Toronto's industrious bagel scene.

The Bagel Hole is a small (but mighty), NY-style bodega, with its entrance located just behind their Extra Burger on Dundas St. West. Though simple and understated, the shop has much to offer.

Not only can you get your hands on their mouthwatering bagel sandwiches n' flavoured shmears, but you can also sip on a small cup of Sam James Coffee for a dollar or grab a cup of Davis' Bubby's homemade matzo ball soup.

Also available are fresh lox, smoked whitefish and an assortment of nostalgic bodega-style chips, sodas, gum and candy! They even have Chanukah candles, sauce and some of their branded merch available as well.

The bagels are made in-house the old-school way at their OG location and are brought down to the Bagel Hole in the wee hours of the morning. The bagels are hand-rolled, malt-boiled, and baked fresh, so you get that glistening and crunchy crust with a dense, chewy interior. The 'shmears' are so creamy and are always generously portioned on your bagel of choice.

Bagel selections rotate daily, but you'll usually find a mix of sesame, poppy, everything, rock salt, onion, plain, and other specials like za'atar available on the menu.

For first-timers, we recommend trying one of their 'shmears' (cream cheese spreads) with your bagel. They've got plain, scallion, herb and garlic and horseradish. For the bagel sandwich lovers, try the Bagel 'n' Lox (with Acme Nova lox and cream cheese), the Bodega Bagel (with soft scrambled egg, cheese, pickles, shredded lettuce, garlic mayo, and Cholula) or the Bagel Buster, a take on the 'belly buster' sub with roast turkey, shredded lettuce, sliced red onion, mayo, mustard, and sub sauce.

They also plan to bring down fresh challah and babka from Lev Bakery, which will be on sale every Friday, beginning this week.

The Bagel Hole is now open at 1265 Dundas St. West behind Extra Burger. The shop is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bagels are pick-up only, first come, first served, so we recommend stopping by earlier in the morning to ensure they haven't sold out.
