Beloved bakery temporarily closes due to COVID-19 infection

One of Toronto's most popular bakeries has announced they have to temporarily close their doors after a family member and some bakery staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

Serano Bakery, a beloved member of the Danforth community that has been serving European pastries and desserts since 1994, informed its thousands of Instagram followers on Monday evening about the infection.

"It is with the utmost sadness to announce that someone in our family along with some bakery staff have contracted COVID. Please rest assured that all precautions were taken to disinfect the store and follow all procedures surrounding the pandemic".

Both the Serano bakery and cafe will remain closed for two weeks to protect the health of their staff and customers. They plan on reopening to the public on Wednesday, May 19.

"Unfortunately, we have decided to give our staff from both our bakery and café a two-week break and focus on making sure the health of our staff and customers come first. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and we appreciate your understanding as we fight to heal and reopen our doors to serve you again."
