Barbecue joints have become extremely popular in our city over recent years, with hungry Torontonians seeking out the best ribs, chicken and other juicy meats with all of the necessary accompaniments (cornbread and slaw, anyone?) If you're one of the many BBQ lovers in the city, you'll want to hear this news: Beach Hill Smokehouse, known for their authentic, Texas-style BBQ food, has just opened their second location.
Located at Danforth and Chester, the new spot is still on the east side of the city, but further west than their original location at Main and Gerrard and thus more accessible to a large portion of their customer base. Although they had intended to open up at the beginning of April, COVID had other plans and they had no choice but to wait a bit longer. Now that they've made it happen, Beach Hill is available slightly closer to the centre of the city, in addition to being on various food delivery apps and no longer out of range for many.
The menu remains the same, serving up authentic central Texas barbecue. Central Texas is considered the world capital for smoked and barbecued meats, with a focus on high-quality proteins that get heavily spiced before being cooked on indirect, wood-fired heat. They offer smoked meats by the half-pound, including Angus beef brisket, pork ribs, chicken and sausage, as well as a cookout-style meal that serves 4-6 and includes all of the meats plus a couple of sides. If you're looking for a hearty, fully-loaded sandwich, Beach Hill has three creations on their menu, all named after famous Texas cities - Lockhart, Austin and Dallas. All of the sandwiches feature tender meat tucked inside a squishy white bun and topped with sauces, slaw or various other additions. Side dish options are as classic as can be, with creamy Southern mac n' cheese, smoked baked beans, deviled egg potato salad and poblano pepper-infused coleslaw to enjoy alongside your meat.
