The name might sound a little familiar but don't be fooled, the flavours, ingredients and vibe are not! This spot pays homage to their landlord and property manager, both named Maria, who have been their support during this challenging year. Over the past several months, Josh Leblance (one of the brains behind Westside Maria's), has been delivering their sauce all over the city. Now they are expanding their horizons with a menu to go along with it, operating as Westside Maria's. Their motto is "familiar classics done well" -- so they're serving up Italian family favourites.
As the unfortunate reality of a winter lockdown set in, the team at Bar Mordecai had to figure out a way to continue serving customers. With that in mind, the genius chef Brian Ho hit the kitchen to create the perfect menu. Got dietary restrictions? Fret not -- the team worked with Impossible Meat to create a vegetarian bolognese that is a delicious and convincing alternative to the meat version, and they have gluten-free options as well.
Baked Ziti.
In addition to serving up their sauces on their own, they're bringing us classics like spaghetti bolognese, baked ziti, a veal parmigiana sandwich, and more. For those who have a sweet tooth...try out pastry chef Mel Valdez’s tiramisu or cookie boxes.
Pomodoro Bucatini.
To give you the full dining experience, you will soon be able to order a side of colouring sheets and crayons with your meal or upgrade to an “ambiance package“ including a taper candle in a wine bottle and a checkered tablecloth to really set the scene. Westside Maria’s is available Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., for delivery only. It is currently available on Uber Eats, and will soon launch on Ambassador and SkipTheDishes.
