Award-winning Calgary chef launches burger pop-up in Toronto

A famous Calgary chef has teamed up with Toronto chef and persona Jerome Robinson of The Heartbreak Chef to bring his beloved burgers to Toronto.

Behind the anticipated burger pop-up is chef Mike Pigot, a multi-award-winning chef. Pigot has several accolades under his belt, including Best Chef in Calgary and a win on an episode of Guy's Grocery Games on Food Network.

Pigot opened his smash burger concept this past winter in Calgary, called Pigot's Burger Club. The burger pop-up was hailed as an instantaneous success, with people quickly dubbing the burger as the best in Calgary. Now, Pigot is bringing the same concept to the city of Toronto.

The burger pop-up officially launched yesterday and to no one's surprise, sold out within hours.

The menu at Pigot's Burger Club looks identical to the one being offered in Calgary. Find single, double or triple American-style cheeseburgers complete with brown sugar onions, Pigot's super-secret sauce, American cheddar cheese and a custom ground beef patty from Beretta Farms; all served between a soft and delicious potato roll. Don't forget to order some tater tots and get them "dirty" with cheese sauce, brown sugar onions, tomato and jalapeños.

Once Pigot had secured a location in Toronto, he reached out to Robinson for a collaboration. They are launching a "secret menu item" called The Heartbreak Burger. It consists of a double patty, smoked bacon, Pigot's secret sauce, American cheese, spicy sautéed peppers, buttermilk onion rings and Heartbreak Chef BBQ sauce on a butter toasted potato roll.

"I will totally support the rumour that Heartbreak is adding a creation of his own to the Burger Club menu," says Pigot.

Pigot's Burger Club officially opened yesterday, April 14, and will be available for delivery through Uber Eats, DoorDash and SkipTheDishes, or pick up from a borrowed storefront on Adelaide and Yonge. Pickup orders can be made through Pigot's website.
