Mixed Senses is a lifestyle shop where you can find soap, artistry, skincare, and now, coffee and treats. This one-stop shop opened last month and aims to generate a culture "that great coffee can pair with all things good."
Using an Italian La Marzocco espresso machine, their four baristas, Marcelo, Bruna, Lyn and Davida, create their house brews using beans from two local roasters, Demello and Barocco. Both producers prioritize fair trade values and high-quality blends.
Marcelo is their master barista and has eight years of expert coffee-making experience. At Mixed Senses, the baristas make a variety of blended, single-origin and speciality coffees, and each one is always topped off with some form of latte art.
One of their more unique drink options that you wouldn't find in your typical run-and-gun coffee spots is the Affogato, which is a shot of espresso poured over two scoops of vanilla ice cream. When it comes to snacks, their options are endless. Their selection ranges from 'everything cookies' to pear danishes, and they even have vegan energy balls which come in pistachio chocolate chip, Nutella, almond crunch and more.
'Mixed Senses' is located across the street from Kew Gardens in the Beaches at 2010 Queen Street East. They are open from Monday to Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
