Wingstop, a wildly popular American quick service restaurant, is officially coming to Canada with their first location slated to open in Toronto.
Known for their selection of popular wing flavours––both wet and dry––the Wingstop frenzy that has cemented themselves in American culture is making a huge leap into the Canadian market.
"Wingstop in Canada marks another key step toward our stated goal of becoming a Top 10 Global Brand and further validates the portability of our brand on a global level," said Nicolas Boudet, president of international at Wingstop, in a press release.
The company was founded in 1994 in Garland, Texas and now boasts a massive international presence with over 1,500 stores world wide. Their latest deal is a partnership with New York-based JPK Capital to bring 100 stores to Canada.
The 100-store deal will begin in Ontario, with their first Canadian outpost planned to open in Toronto in 2022. They plan to open all 100 stores within the next 10 years.
"[We] could not be happier to partner with Wingstop and lead the charge in bringing one of the most successful restaurant brands and the best wings in the world to Canada," said Joe Poulin, founder and CEO of JPK Capital.
With COVID still in full force, there may be some delays in the process. But, Poulin also expresses excitement around Wingstop’s growing digital platforms, which will provide a seamless ordering experience once it arrives in Canada.
"As technology entrepreneurs and investors, we have been impressed with Wingstop's investment in innovation and look forward to capitalizing on its proprietary tech stack to offer a best-in-class digital and in-restaurant experience to Canadians," added Poulin.
