Getting your hands on a smash burger in the city is quite easy but not so much for those living in Etobicoke.
Luckily, there’s a new spot in the Mimico neighbourhood that’s serving up just that, along with a mouthwatering selection of all beef hotdogs, fries and house-made desserts.
Hotties SmashBurgers opened in March and is currently operating out of the Etobicoke location of Panagio’s All Day Grill, which is only open from Saturday to Sunday so that the kitchen is free for burgers to be smashed throughout the week.
The beloved smash burgers at Hotties consist of three ounce certified Angus lean ground beef balls that are smashed onto an excruciatingly hot flat-top grill until they’re very thin and achieve a crispy crust. What sets them apart, however, is the overhang of their beef patty, meaning you won’t be left with just American cheese and other toppings on a Martin’s Potato Roll for your final bite.
As of right now, they have four kinds of smash burgers, including a plant-based option made with Impossible meat, that tastes so similar to their signature burger, 'The Hottie', that you wouldn’t even be able to tell them apart.
They’ve even got four different all beef hotdogs that are made using Hebrew National 'beef franks'. Varieties include their classic hot dog topped with house ketchup and mustard, 'Hottie Roddie', 'Bacon Cheese Dog' and 'Chilli Cheese Dog' topped with onions, mustard, cheese sauce and an all-beef chilli made in house.
If that’s not enough, pair your burger or hotdog with a side of fries, cajun fries, cheese fries and other loaded fries. They use red potatoes which have a thinner skin and are subtly sweeter in flavour. Finally, finish off your meal with some sweet treats. Desserts are made in-house and rotate regularly, but expect to find sweets like butter tarts and chocolate fudge brownies.
Plans of opening up a storefront just down the street before the end of the year are already in the works for Hotties, but for now, you can find them on UberEats and Ritual for pickup at 2324 Lake Shore Boulevard West.
Hotties SmashBurgers is open Wednesday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., although hours are subject to change.
