Putting all of Terroni’s goodness under one roof, Terroni Sud Forno Produzione E Spaccio, also known more simply as Spaccio, opened its first location on King East in 2020. Now, the Terroni team is getting ready to open a second Spaccio location this summer, this time venturing west to take over Drake Commissary’s huge space in the Junction Triangle.
The existing Spaccio on King East is currently a commissary, café, and store with a full range of Terroni’s house-made specialties, including baked goods, fresh pasta, pantry items and a butchery.
While the commissary kitchen was mainly designed to centralize food production for all of Terroni’s restaurants, the team decided to add a café so that Corktown locals could grab a quick bite or cup of pick-me-up at the coffee counter.
It took the team five years just to find the right space for their first commissary kitchen, and now they’ve found another perfect spot to expand their Spaccio operations: Drake Commissary.
Opened in 2017 as a culinary hub for all of The Drake’s properties, the Commissary became part of the Junction Triangle’s transformation from an industrial neighbourhood to a more vibrant area with restaurants, art studios and retail businesses.
In August 2021, Drake Commissary announced its closure and ended their four-year stay in the neighbourhood. Its 8,000-square-foot space will soon be taken over by the Terroni team with their second Spaccio location.
Known as Spaccio West, this new artisanal kitchen hub will have all the same things we’ve come to love at the original Spaccio (Spaccio East), plus a larger dining space and outdoor patio for a much more communal space.
Just like Spaccio East, you’ll be able to grab a range of traditional homemade Italian specialties, wine, take-home meals, grocery items and more.
Spaccio West is still being renovated, but you’ll soon be able to shop and dine all things Terroni when they open their doors this summer at 128 Sterling Rd.
