Following a historic inauguration that saw Joe Biden become the new president, it was Senator Bernie Sanders that caused an outpour of social media chatter.
A photo of Sanders comfortably and casually perched at inauguration day went viral, and not long after became the internet's next sensational meme. Dozens across the food scene in Toronto have weighed in on the photo, and have been superimposing the beloved politician in various photos of food and restaurants.
Here are some of our favourites:
Dzô
The Vietnamese eatery shared a photo of Bernie outside of their shop, and like the rest of us, he can't wait to get back to indoor dining.
Jatujak
Bernie seems like the kind of guy that loves Thai street food, right? The one drawback is not enjoying it on "the street." The folks at Jatujak says they'll let him know when he'll be able to dine inside, though.
Lox + Schmear
Looking for delicious smoked fish? You can check out the Lox + Schmear online store––Bernie's unfortunately not letting anyone in at the moment.
Matty Matheson
There's not much to this one, just your friendly Canadian chef holding a little Bernie like a slider.
Saints Island Pies
The fellas over at Saints have just unravelled their specialty Chicken Adobo pizzas, and Bernie was first in line to get one.
Pilot Coffee Roasters
Bernie is absolutely the type of politician that appreciates specialty coffee. He may not be Canadian, but he does rock a toque just like a Canuck.
Rosewood Winery & Meadery
"I am once again asking for a succulent wine from one of Niagara's greatest vineyards" - Bernie Sanders, probably.
Mattachioni
If Bernie was a Torontonian he would be that friendly old Junction resident that shops at local grocers like Mattachioni.
