A prior watering hole for many and a Dundas West neighbourhood favourite, Cocktail Bar has just announced via Instagram that they will be offering some of their best selling cocktails to-go.
Cocktail bar will be offering cocktails to-go directly from their shop on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Owned by restaurateur Jen Agg, who is also responsible for Grey Gardens, Le Swan, Rhum Corner and Bar Vendetta, Cocktail Bar has been a destination for anyone seeking a well-balanced and delicious cocktail, which comes as no surprise as the bar is often touted as one of the city's best spots for a cocktail.
As all small businesses continue to struggle in the face of an ongoing global pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, restaurants have at least been able to rely on takeout and meal kits. As bars are social in their nature, meant for providing a shared space, the necessity for physical distancing has evidently come with its own set of challenges.
During a few weeks of relief in the summer, Cocktail Bar was able to open its doors once again to patrons but as cases have reached an all-time high, there is no end in sight for the neighbourhood bar.
As Agg shares in her Instagram post, "Obviously the pandemic has been very hard on restaurants, but even worse off are bars. Our beloved Cocktail Bar is hanging on by a thread because there was really nothing for us to sell... until now!"
Cocktail kits are becoming more commonplace to offer a solution for those missing an artfully crafted libation but some may not want to commit to a $40 or $50 offer. Although Cocktail Bar is still offering the extensive large-format kits, they will also be offering smaller drinks to-go.
You can find a selection of drinks for two on their condensed menu. Find their arguably most popular drink, the Lavender Hound with lavender gin, grapefruit, lemon and a salt rim for $22 or their Bumblebee with Reposado tequila, thyme Carpano Bianco, cachaça and Branca Menta.
It might be some time before we can sip on citrusy creations in the dimly lit space but in the meantime, swing by 923 Dundas St West for a cocktail or two to support a cherished Toronto institution!
