The Roundup: This Week in Toronto (July 3 - 9)
It's heating up this week, and with the long weekend gone by, here are some awesome things to experience around the city this week!
Toronto's short-lived summer is reason enough to skip out of work early. Add to that Miznon Toronto's recently launched Magic Hours — complete with drink specials and tasty snacks — and you'll find yourself embracing the season with Yorkville's freshest Mediterranean street food. Taking place on weekdays between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., Miznon's Magic Hours offer guests the chance to sample drinks at a reduced price, with complimentary crispy za'atar pita ends and tahini on the side.
Cocktails, each $10, include the Strawberry Fields, with vodka or gin, elderflower, strawberry perfume, lemon, mint and soda, and a pomegranate-spiked take on a Negroni, dubbed the Pomegroni. Stay for dinner, and sample chef Eyal Shani's gloriously fragrant, vibrant cuisine. Never tasted A Bag of Golden Meat or the team's aptly-named 'Best Hummus That You Will Ever Eat'? Don't let summer pass you by without digging in. Miznon is located at 1235 Bay Street.
If you rely on nutbar for nutrient-rich, high-quality drinks and snacks powered by superfoods, you'll love the company's newest member of the family. A clean and nutritious milk made without gums, fillers or preservatives, barmilk marks the nutbar team's entry into the consumer packaged goods market. Made to the same exacting standards as nutbar's every offering, barmilk is handcrafted in small batches from five organic ingredients — cashews, almonds, coconut, maple syrup and sea salt. The same premium nut milk used in the cafés, barmilk is now available for customers to enjoy at home, in hot or cold beverages or on its own. "We're revolutionizing the nut milk industry by bringing our high-quality nutrition and taste standards to the at-home plant-based milk market,” said Kate Taylor Martin, founder and CEO, nutbar, in a press release. Find barmilk at all four nutbar café locations.
Beyond the buzzing four floors of fun, the rooftop grill, the dreamy drinks and the chance to see and be seen, there's a new reason to visit Baro this summer, and beyond. Recently announced, the restaurant's Dine Around Latin America program invites guests to sample a wealth of diverse and rich new flavours, with special menu items available each month.
For June, the team cooked up Asado Negro, a Venezuelan dish of succulent, 24-hour braised beef and pickled fennel accompanied by a fresh-made arepa. With Peru as the feature country, July welcomes the Brasa Salad to the table. A combination of octopus escabeche, a riot of fresh produce and crisp quinoa garnished with queso fresco, herbs, and lucuma rocoto vinaigrette, the salad is as flavourful as it is fun to eat. Created in partnership with Brasa Peruvian, the dish is served with the added bonus of offering guests the opportunity to win a trip to Lima, Peru. In August, the team will highlight Chile with a national dish accompanied by an immersive entertainment experience. Baro is located at 485 King Street West. To book your table, visit Opentable.com.

Midori Ramen is bringing back its popular Ramenlicious summer menu from July 3 until the end of August. During Ramenlicious, the restaurant releases a new limited-time ramen every two weeks for the summer months. This year, Midori Ramen has four unique new flavours lined up, including a ramen with ice cream in it. The Icy Spicy ramen will have a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a mini cone, served on top of the restaurant’s spiciest broth yet, using a crunchy garlic and shallot chilli oil. Customers can enjoy the new flavours on the following schedule.
July 3: Wagyu-Uni (topped with torched wagyu + fresh uni)
July 17: Tori-Buta Paitan (a blend of chicken and pork broth)
July 31: Icy Spicy (a super spicy x ice cream ramen)
August 14: Enoki Tsukemen (a dipping ramen)
Midori Ramen is a Tori Paitan (chicken broth) ramen restaurant located at 412 Queen St. W., with three other locations in the GTA and two more on the way.

Rated Toronto’s number one hot dog by Toronto Life Magazine last year, this is a must-try staple now located conveniently in Kensington Market. See the creations for yourself at 185 Baldwin St.
If you long to taste the type of desserts that helped Hexagon Restaurant secure a spot on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants list, listen up. Lili Linda — a pastry chef who for five years spun a symphony of ingredients into a reverie of luscious sweets at Hexagon and 7 Enoteca — has just launched an at-home business with biweekly pastry drops. With menus that reveal Linda's considerable skills, each box includes savoury and sweet treats, with breads also making an appearance.
Already sold out, Linda's first box included kaya jam maritozzi, strawberry and rhubarb hand pie, a petit gâteau with caramelized pineapple and a savoury Danish filled with mushroom, onion and ricotta. Menus will be released every other Saturday, with pickup in Oakville. For more details, keep an eye on chef Linda's Instagram page.
