Beyond Moo is the only full-line of oat based dairy alternatives in Canada. The company was created by Yulia Weber, a Russian Canadian and mother of four.
Weber was looking for a healthy, clean, dairy-free alternative to spreads, yogurts and kefir that were made from local ingredients, but always struggled to find anything. Knowing that oats are a Canadian-crop, and that many of the plant-based dairy products out there contain mostly water and additives, she soon realized that there was an opportunity to create a product that was local, clean, non-GMO, free from pesticides and chemicals, allergy-free and of course, made in Canada.
Weber then decided to launch Beyond Moo, and is now one of the healthiest plant-based options for kefir, yogurt and spreads. Weber, who has a background in Aerospace Engineering and was a professional athlete in cross country skiing, always had an interest in fitness and nutrition. Especially as a mother, she was curious in what ways she could provide her children with the best foundation to grow up healthy. As such, she is focusing on innovative ideas such as kids school snacks, kid-sized yogurts and cheese strings, all made with oat milk.
Beyond Moo is based in Mississauga and using a contract manufacturer, as it’s the most cost-effective during a start-up, according to Weber. The new products that are being launched in September are: OATrageously buttery spreads, kids yogurts in November and mozarella sticks in 2022.
Weber previously used a commercial certified kitchen and was packing and delivering everything herself. Now, through the service of a co-packer, she ensures all ingredients are from Canada, as well as the packaging and manufacturing––the goal is to minimize their carbon footprint as well as supporting local.
