Yes, you read the title right -- Dunkaroos are gearing up for a relaunch this summer!
General Mills started teasing a possible announcement by creating new Twitter and Instagram accounts for the brand that posted cryptic photos in January. Rumours have since been swirling, as people speculated what it could all mean. Our wildest 90s-nostalgia dreams were answered when Dunkaroos finally announced their return as of Summer 2020.
Originally launched in 1990, Dunkaroos hit the height of their popularity in the mid to late 90s. They were initially discontinued in the US in 2012 but held on in Canada until 2018. During that gap, Dunkaroos (un)officially endorsed a “Smugglaroos” campaign encouraging Canadians to bring the treat to their American neighbours any time they went south of the border.
The best part of this dunkin’ fantastic news is the return of their most requested flavour -- Rainbow Sprinkle Frosting! The only thing we can hope for now is bigger containers for the frosting because who among us had the willpower to ration it as a kid?
