Comfort Food
The Heartbreak Chef
Last updated: November 12, 2020
Jerome Robinson (a.k.a Heartbreak Chef) just opened a storefront restaurant this past weekend on March 7 and he was overwhelmed with support from family, friends and members of the community. People showed up ready to eat! The storefront was packed all day churning out different indulgent dishes to the hungry stream of customers.

Though his restaurant is new, Jerome Robinson is a familiar face and name in Toronto. He has been catering for years and participated in some of Toronto's food festivals including TasteToronto's Brunch Fest. There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the opening of this restaurant. Fans of Robinson and his food have been begging him to open up a permanent location for months. The day has finally come when the city of Toronto gets a chance to try Robinsons creations whenever the craving hits (except Sundays, the only day that Robinson and staff take a break).
The Space:
This fast food joint was located on Queen West in Parkdale for a short time before relocating to a permanent home on Dundas West. The Heart Break Chef is perfect for dinner or after a night out. It has minimal seating inside but diners may choose to sit in, or take their food to go. The restaurant has a small game console in the corner in case you get bored while waiting for your food or want an entertaining break from your phone. If you are not feeling like leaving your home but still want a taste of food created by the 'Heartbreak Chef' you can order from the restaurant on several of the popular delivery apps.
The Food:
Jerome Robinson is serving what he knows best -- delicious, indulgent and comforting food. The menu is not large, it features two fried chicken sandwiches, chicken and waffles, poutine, as well as four sides. The sides are not to be passed over, they are delicious and compliment the mains perfectly. There is creamy mac and cheese, crispy brussel sprouts, perfectly seasoned wedges or crunchy coleslaw.
The Heartbreak Chef is now located at 823 Dundas St West and is open 7 days a week for takeout and delivery.
It's safe to say that Robinson's venture is a perfect addition to the Dundas West neighbourhood and the local community is all for supporting his new eatery. Make sure to check this place out and stop by to say hello to the 'Heartbreak Chef' himself.
