Vegan
LOV
LOV -- located on King West -- joins the growing number of plant-based restaurants popping up throughout the city. The restaurant opened back in October, 2019 -- marking the fifth location of the brand and the first outside of Quebec.
The Space:
Upon walking into LOV, you are immediately struck by the chic California-inspired decor. The high-ceilings create a bright and airy restaurant that is filled with custom artisan pieces such as stained glass, rose gold arc lamps, hanging plant arrangements, textile art and velvety smooth cushions. Rich in detail, every little item has been carefully curated by Jacinthe Piotte.
The Menu:
LOV Toronto believes in including and embracing anyone curious about plant-based cuisine. By being 100% plant-based, they believe their guests can simultaneously promote their own well-being as well as that of the planet.
Their menu features vegan takes on classic dishes, as well as some more inventive and creative dishes. Their starters are perfect for sharing; with a mac 'n' cheese that's served in a hot skillet, and garnished with kale and vegan parmesan -- you'd never know it was vegan. Other starters include mushroom and vegetable fried dumplings with an almond butter kimchi sauce, fried brussel sprouts served with buffalo sauce and fleur de sel, kimchi fries, parsnip and pear toast and quinoa fritters, among other things.
The menu has some intricate and traditional salads, including The LOV Wedge ($15), which is truly a showstopping dish. The iceberg lettuce wedge is coated with their in-house ranch dressing, garnished with vegan gorgonzola, tempeh bacon, croutons and radishes, and topped with a gerbera daisy.
They also serve up Beyond Meat burgers and crispy tofu burgers, as well as many signature dishes. The LOV Lasagna ($19) is served in a hot skillet pan with lupini tempeh bolognese sauce with vegan mozzarella and cashew cream, served with a side of caesar salad.
The Coconut Curry ($18) is a vibrant dish with velvety smooth coconut milk curry, squash, kale, carrots and cashews, and is served on a bed of basmati rice and garnished with a lime wedge and cilantro. Other signatures include gnocchi in a hemp basil pesto, arugula mushroom risotto and truffles and caviar.
The Drinks:
Their drink menu features many signature LOV potions, including their famous Blue Lavender Latte, made with pitaya rose, butterfly pea flower powder, ashwagandha, nutmeg and cinnamon -- made with a choice of almond, coconut or oat milk. They also make other favourites such as a matcha latte, turmeric latte and even a lemonade served hot or cold. They also serve smoothies, organic teas and coffees, classic and signature cocktails, mocktails and local beers.
LOV has curated a list of organic and natural wines available by the bottle or glass, that support winemakers with an ethos for balance and sustainability. Cheers to that!
The Emerald, with Cazadores Blanco Tequila, green chartreuse, lemon juice, orgeat syrup, Bowmore 12 years old, aquafaba and snow pea juice.
LOV Toronto is a casual, yet sophisticated restaurant great for groups, weekend brunch or a romantic dinner and can be enjoyed by people eating strictly plant-based as well as those just trying to eat less meat. Come here to discover amazing food and decor.
