Jalebi are a spiral-shaped dessert perfect for festive celebrations like Diwali. They are crispy on the outside, syrupy and juicy on the inside. It is made from a batter of flour, corn starch, baking soda, yogurt, and orange food colouring, fried until golden, and then soaked in a fragrant cardamom sugar syrup. Using simple ingredients from Wholesale Club, you can prepare this traditional Indian dessert in just 20 minutes. Top with crushed pistachios for a pop of colour and enjoy them warm!

Step 1
In a small pot combine sugar, water and cardamom pods. Simmer over medium heat until sugar has melted and the cardamom is fragrant.
Step 2
Whisk together flour, corn starch, baking soda, yogurt, water and food colouring in a bowl. Transfer the batter to a piping bag.
Step 3
Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Pipe the batter into the hot oil in circular, spiral motions to form the traditional jalebi shape. Fry until golden and crisp, then remove from the oil.
Step 4
Dunk them into the warm sugar syrup for a few seconds. Remove and top with crushed pistachios if desired.
